Issues

A better world is possible if we stand together and fight for it.

Sandeep Srivastava is running for the Texas State House to deliver real results for working families and bring practical, people-first leadership to Austin.

Sandeep vows to fight for us where so much of our future is being decided right here in Austin.

He is committed to making home and auto insurance more affordable, lowering property taxes, saving our public schools, ensuring public and school safety, and improving access to better health insurance.

Across Texas, families are feeling the pinch of skyrocketing home and auto insurance premiums. From hailstorms to hurricanes, insurers are responding to rising risks with higher rates—but the burden is falling too heavily on everyday Texans. As your next State Representative, I will fight to bring common-sense solutions that lower costs while protecting what matters most.

My Plan to Reduce Insurance Costs in Texas:

  • Boost Market Competition: I will support legislation that attracts more insurers to Texas by cutting red tape and making it easier for reputable companies to offer affordable policies. More competition means better rates for consumers.
  • Invest in Risk Reduction: I’ll champion state-backed incentives for homeowners to make their properties more disaster-resistant—like upgrading roofs, reinforcing windows, and using fire-resistant materials—all of which can lead to lower premiums.
  • Empower Consumers with Transparency: Texans deserve to know why their rates are going up. I’ll push for greater transparency from insurance companies and support tools that help consumers compare prices, understand coverage options, and find better deals.
  • Strengthen State Risk Pools: For families in high-risk areas, I will work to improve the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) and other risk pools, ensuring affordable, reliable coverage is available when the private market falls short.
  • Crack Down on Fraud and Abuse: Fraudulent claims and lawsuit abuse drive up costs for everyone. I’ll support smart reforms that curb these abuses without limiting the rights of legitimate policyholders.
  • Support Smart Use of Technology I’ll encourage insurers to use better data and risk models so pricing is fairer and based on real factors—not blanket rate hikes.

Texans deserve fair, affordable insurance—not surprise hikes and shrinking coverage. I’m running to make sure the system works for you, not against you. Together, we can bring real relief to Texas homeowners and drivers.

Sandeep is concerned about an issue that affects every homeowner and family across our great state property taxes.

Texas is known for its strength, independence, and opportunity. But as property values rise, too many Texans are feeling the burden of skyrocketing property taxes. Families are being priced out of their homes, small businesses are struggling, and retirees on fixed incomes are making tough decisions just to stay afloat.

We must take action.

Lowering property taxes isn’t just about saving money—it’s about protecting the Texas way of life. It’s about keeping homeownership within reach, supporting local communities, and ensuring our economy stays strong for the next generation.

That means greater transparency in how tax rates are set. It means putting limits on excessive increases and giving local voters more control. And it means finding smarter ways to fund our schools and essential services without overburdening property owners.

Together, we can bring balance back to our system. Together, we can make sure that owning a home in Texas remains a blessing—not a burden.

It’s time to put Texas families first and that starts with putting money back in your pocket.

Sandeep believes deeply in the promise of public education. Public schools are the heart of our communities. They are where we teach our children not just reading and math, but how to think critically, work together, and become informed citizens.

They are open to every child—no matter their ZIP code, income, race, religion, or ability. That is something worth fighting for.

But today, that promise is under threat. Voucher schemes no matter what name they go by siphon money away from our public schools and hand it to private institutions that are not held to the same standards, not accountable to taxpayers, and not obligated to serve all students.

Let’s be clear: vouchers are not about choice—they are about abandonment. Abandoning rural schools, special needs students, and underfunded districts in favor of a system that picks winners and losers.

We cannot and we will not allow that to happen in Texas.

Instead of defunding public schools, let’s invest in them. Let’s pay our teachers what they deserve. Let’s lower class sizes, provide mental health resources, and make sure every student, in every part of this great state, gets the quality education they deserve.

We say NO to vouchers. We say YES to strong public schools for every Texas child.

As your next representative in the Texas State House, I believe the safety of our families, neighborhoods, and schools is not just a policy priority it’s a fundamental responsibility.

Every Texan deserves to feel secure in their home, their workplace, and especially when they send their children to school. That’s why I’m committed to advancing practical, proven solutions to enhance public and school safety across our great state.

Safe Communities Through Smart Policy

Texas communities thrive when they are safe and secure. To achieve that, I will support:

  • Strategic investment in local law enforcement: Ensuring our police and first responders are well-trained, well-equipped, and held to the highest standards of accountability.
  • Community-based crime prevention: Supporting programs that build trust between law enforcement and the neighborhoods they serve.
  • Addressing root causes of crime: Including mental health services, drug treatment programs, and youth outreach initiatives that steer people away from violence and toward opportunity.
  • Stronger support for victims: We need better resources for victims of domestic violence, assault, and other crimes because justice means more than arrests; it means healing.

Protecting Texas Students and Schools

School safety must be non-negotiable. Parents deserve peace of mind that their children are protected, and students deserve to learn in a secure and welcoming environment. I will work to:

  • Enhance campus security through funding for school resource officers (SROs), threat detection technologies, and infrastructure upgrades where needed.
  • Support school mental health services by increasing the availability of counselors and mental health professionals in every district.
  • Encourage local partnerships between schools, law enforcement, and community organizations to identify risks early and act preventively.
  • Ensure emergency preparedness by requiring every school to maintain, regularly update, and practice comprehensive safety and crisis response plans.

A Balanced, Responsible Approach

We can protect public safety and uphold individual rights. We can secure our schools without turning them into fortresses. And we can make our laws tougher on those who threaten our safety—while being smarter about rehabilitation and prevention.

I will bring that balanced, responsible approach to the State House.

Public and school safety isn’t a talking point. It’s a promise and one I intend to keep.

Texans are independent by nature and we need a health care system that reflects that spirit: one that’s efficient, transparent, and puts people before politics.

As a responsible candidate for the Texas House, I’m not tied to party agendas. I’m focused on common-sense solutions that work for our communities, save taxpayer dollars, and ensure that no Texan is left behind when it comes to their health.

My Priorities for Health Insurance in Texas:

  • Expand Access, Responsibly: Texas leads the nation in uninsured residents. That’s not just a statistic, it's a crisis. I support a Texas-based solution to expand health insurance coverage, especially for working families, veterans, and small business employees. We should explore a state-managed expansion of Medicaid with accountability measures, cost caps, and options tailored for our workforce.
  • Bring Down Health Care Costs: Health care is too expensive for families, businesses, and the state. We need to simplify the system, eliminate waste, and support price transparency so Texans can shop for care like they would any other service. I support measures to limit hospital price gouging and promote competitive, free-market options.
  • Empower Rural and Local Health Systems: One-size-fits-all policies don’t work in Texas. Our rural areas need targeted investment. I’ll support incentives for rural hospitals and mobile clinics and work to attract health professionals to underserved areas through education partnerships and local hiring programs.
  • Prioritize Mental Health and Preventive Care: A healthy Texas starts with early intervention. I’ll work to expand access to mental health care, especially for youth and veterans, and support preventive care programs that keep people healthy and reduce long-term costs.
  • Protect Texans from Surprise Medical Bills: Surprise billing is unacceptable. Patients deserve to know what they’ll pay before they get treatment. I’ll fight for real transparency in insurance billing and ensure fair dispute resolution between providers and insurers—keeping patients out of the middle.

I believe Texans can craft Texas solutions. As your next State Representative, I’ll work across the aisle to deliver practical, balanced health care reforms that respect taxpayers, empower communities, and put people first.
